Eco: How to Set Up a Server

Eco server hosting on HardGaming gives your group a private copy of the game's world in a few minutes. This guide covers signing in, choosing a plan, naming your server, paying, and confirming it is running.

Before You Start

  • A HardGaming account. Create one at hardgaming.tech first, then sign in before you start.
  • A payment method. Your card is entered at the last step and saved for the monthly subscription.
  • Windows PC only. Eco does not currently support Mac, Linux, console or mobile, so this guide covers the Windows release.
  • Nothing to install. Every step happens in your browser, and the server is provisioned for you after payment.
  • Nothing here is final. The plan, server name and any other choice you make during checkout can be changed later.

Step 1: Open the HardGaming Website

Go to hardgaming.tech and sign in.

Step 2: Select Game Hosting

In the sidebar on the left, click Game Hosting.

Step 3: Select the Eco Tile

The grid lists every game HardGaming hosts. Click the Eco tile.

Step 4: Choose a Plan

Three plans are offered on the Plans tab. Click the one that fits how you will play.

  • Starter, suited to playing solo.
  • Premium, suited to playing with a group.
  • Custom, on its own tab, lets you set your own resources instead of using a preset.

Step 5: Name Your Server

On the Configuration tab, type a name into Server Name, the one required field on this page. Click Next when you are ready.

Step 6: Enter Your Payment Details

Leave Select Your Card on Enter a new card, or choose a card you have used before. Fill in Card Number, Expiry Date, Security Code, Country and Zip code, then click Submit Secure Payment.

Warning: Your card is saved and charged every month until you cancel the server from your Billing page.

Step 7: Confirm Your Server Is Running

Payment takes you to your new server's page. Watch STATUS, which reads offline while the server installs, then changes to running once it is ready. CONNECT ADDRESS holds the address your friends need to join.

Is Eco Available on Console?

No. Eco runs on Windows PC only. The game supported Mac and Linux in the past, but the current Steam listing shows Windows only, with no Xbox, PlayStation or Switch release.

Applying a Coupon Code

If you have a coupon, apply it before you pay. On the payment page, click Apply coupon code, type your code, and click Apply.

Troubleshooting

Can't get past the Configuration tab?

  • Server Name is marked required and left empty. Fill it in and click Next again.

Server still shows offline after paying?

  • It is still installing. Wait for STATUS to change to running before connecting.

Friends cannot join?

  • Check STATUS reads running. A server that is still installing refuses connections.
  • Give them the address from CONNECT ADDRESS.

Best Practices

  • Pick the plan sized for how many people will actually join, not the smallest one available.
  • Use your DeepSave slot before a big change to your world. Our DeepSave guide covers how.
  • Give the install a few minutes. Your server's Console tab shows what is happening while you wait.
